The Economic Development Alliance of St. Clair County hosted its Economic Growth Luncheon on Thursday, February 15, 2024. The organization shared key measures from 2023, including that the region benefited from nearly $110 million in private investment and 273 new jobs from attraction projects, community development, business expansions and small business development. Community Development projects led the way with $72 million, followed by the expansion of over a dozen existing businesses investing $28.8 million.
Michigan Metal Coatings (MMC) received a 2024 Economic Investment Expansion/Retention Award on behalf of the EDA of St. Clair County to celebrate the company’s corporate citizenship and commitment to St. Clair County by making an investment for the improvement of the county’s economy and creating new employment opportunities in 2023.
MMC added 18,000 square feet of production space to the 2015 Dove St. facility in Port Huron to house expanding operations, investing $2.6 million in real property improvements and $2 million in new equipment. The expansion created 7 new positions. The EDA worked with MMC and the city to achieve a 7-year real property tax abatement on the expansion.
We are immensely grateful for the support and collaboration of the Economic Development Authority (EDA) in facilitating this significant expansion. The award serves as a testament to our commitment to growth and innovation, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to the EDA for their invaluable partnership in this endeavor.
