National Manufacturing Day (MFG Day) is an annual event celebrated on the first Friday of October. Established in 2012, this day serves as a platform to showcase the significance of manufacturing in the economy, highlight career opportunities within the industry, and encourage collaboration among manufacturers, educators, and communities.
The primary purpose of National Manufacturing Day is to promote manufacturing careers. With a significant skills gap affecting the industry, MFG Day aims to inspire the next generation of workers to consider careers in manufacturing. By showcasing the variety of roles and opportunities, the event seeks to attract young talent and provide them with insights into the modern manufacturing landscape.
MMC was excited to welcome 57 sophomores from Marysville High School last week. This event underscores the importance of manufacturing in driving economic growth and innovation, emphasizing how manufacturers contribute to local and national economies by creating jobs, supporting communities, and fostering technological advancements. MMC also highlighted our focus on innovation; offering the opportunity for MMC to demonstrate our innovative practices, sustainable processes, and the latest technologies that are transforming the industry.
Celebrating National Manufacturing Day has numerous benefits. It inspires future generations by opening doors to schools and engaging students through tours, demonstrations, and mentorship opportunities. This can ignite interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields, encouraging young people to pursue education and careers in manufacturing.
MMC is grateful to be a participating manufacturer in National Manufacturing Day and for the relationship we have with St. Clair County Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA) and the Economic Development Alliance of St. Clair County (EDA of St. Clair County).
